The Little Compact That Could: The E900 is American Photo’s Editor’s Choice

Posted at June 22, 2006 10:41 AM

The July/August issue of American Photo magazine features the FinePix E900 as the “Digital Compact Camera of the Year.” The camera’s nine-MegaPixel Super CCD impressed the editors, housed as it is in the diminutive body of a compact. The “superior sharpness” and “top-of-class” MegaPixel count place the E900 on a higher level than some current D-SLRs, according to the magazine.

Along with the E900’s sharpness and resolution, American Photo praises the low noise present in images taken at high ISOs. Take into account the well-sized LCD monitor (2.0”) and features like RAW capture and a live histogram, and American Photo was ready to deem the E900 a D-SLR quality camera “at a point-and-shoot price.”

American Photo isn’t the source of praise for the E900. Read what others have been saying about the compact with a kick.
